The 20-20-20 Rule: Surviving Screen Time

Prolonged focus on digital screens causes eye muscles to strain, triggering the trigeminal nerve. The flicker rate of many monitors — often invisible to the naked eye — acts as a strobe trigger for a migrainous brain.

Ergonomic Prevention

  • Screen Distance: Monitor at least an arm's length away.
  • Brightness Matching: Your screen should never be brighter than the surrounding room.
  • The 20-20-20 Rule: Every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds.
